VenueTech aquires BB Sound
For more than twenty years, Nelson live sound specialist Bob Bickerton with his company BB Sound, has been providing concert and festival sound amplification for venues in the Nelson region.
Since 2010, Bob has worked in partnership with professional sound engineer JR Richardson, who is the Venue Technical Manager of both the Theatre Royal and Nelson Centre of Musical Arts.
Today, JR Richardson announced that his company, VenueTech Ltd., has taken ownership of Bob Bickerton’s ‘BB Sound’ live sound business and equipment inventory.
“This is a natural transition for a company with such a high reputation, excellent equipment inventory and professional philosophy. I’m thrilled VenueTech is taking over the company” said Bickerton.
Specialising in professional concert production, BBSound has built up an inventory of esoteric equipment including the only sound systems in New Zealand by German manufacturer Fohhn; a variety of digital mixing desks, and probably the finest live sound microphone collection in the South Island.
“I began working with Bob in 2010, and immediately connected with his philosophies and considered equipment collection.”
“Having privileged access to the BBSound inventory over the past decade has allowed me to produce outcomes that would have been unattainable otherwise. So, when Bob announced he was looking to wind up BBSound, it seemed only natural to step up and retain access to this equipment.”
JR noted that the acquisition of BBSound allows VenueTech to provide a continuity of service to their existing client base, which includes the Theatre Royal, Nelson Centre of Musical Arts and the Nelson Arts Festival.
